Why we are choosing a digital future
After many wonderful years on Klaasstraat in Venlo, a big change is coming for Kado in Huis. On 20 June 2026, we will close the doors of our physical shop for the last time. But don't worry: we are not disappearing! Kado in Huis is becoming an online-only gift shop. In this post, we share our decision, look back at our time in Venlo and explain what comes next.
Running our gift shop in Venlo was a dream come true. Every day, we enjoyed the conversations, helping customers choose presents and wrapping their gifts. However, the world of retail is changing quickly. To prepare Kado in Huis for the future, we have decided to put all our love, energy and enthusiasm into our online shop from 21 June.
What does this mean for you? Our personal service, enthusiasm and collection of more than 1,000 gift items are moving online with us.

Whether you are looking for a special birthday present, a stylish home accessory or a playful gadget, we plan to keep developing our online collection. Some of the gift ideas you know from our shop are already waiting for you online:
- The original Zwitscherbox: This little birdhouse with nature sounds remains part of our online collection. Check the individual colours and wood finishes for current availability.
- Lucky Cats (Maneki Neko): The cheerful waving cats that brought so much colour to our shop are also available online. An original gift idea for a housewarming or the start of a new job.
- StoryTiles: These artistic tiles tell miniature stories. Online, you can take your time exploring the different designs and comparing the matching accessories.
What changes for our regular customers?
We understand that our regular visitors will miss the physical shop in Venlo. Online, we still want to offer the personal attention you have come to know:
- Wrapped with care: We will continue to wrap your gifts carefully by hand, just as we did in our shop.
- A personal card: You can include a personal message with your order. We will write it by hand on a card for the recipient.
- Delivery information for your order: Please check our shipping and delivery information for dispatch times, shipping costs and any exceptions that apply to your delivery country.
